Islands in the Bay began with a simple idea: create a place where people could experience the beauty of Placentia Bay without giving up the comfort, style and ease of a modern stay.
The cottages were designed to feel connected to the landscape — with expansive windows, waterfront views and spaces that invite guests to slow down, settle in and enjoy the bay.
It is more than a collection of places to sleep. The goal has always been to create a welcoming home base for exploring this part of Newfoundland and a place people look forward to coming back to at the end of each day.

The vision was to create cottages that felt distinctly Newfoundland while offering the kind of modern, thoughtfully designed accommodation guests increasingly look for when they travel.
Each cottage has its own connection to the water and the landscape, while sharing the same emphasis on comfort, simplicity and the view.
Whether someone is visiting for a weekend, staying for several days to explore the Avalon, or returning for another season, the idea is the same: spend the day discovering Newfoundland and come home to Placentia Bay.

Islands in the Bay is a destination in its own right, but it is also a place from which to discover much more of Newfoundland.
Guests can stay several days and build a different adventure into each one, exploring Placentia, coastal communities, beaches, hiking trails and destinations across the Avalon and surrounding region.
Then, at the end of the day, they return to the quiet of the cottage, the water and another Placentia Bay sunset.
